WASHINGTON-- Our Revolution on Thursday endorsed Lori Kirkpatrick to represent the 2nd District on the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) Board of Trustees.
“Community-driven change starts with the way we educate our children,” said Executive Director Shannon Jackson. “School board members make decisions that are crucial in determining how the broader community will progress. Our Revolution is honored to endorse Lori Kirkpatrick to represent District 2 on the DISD Board of Trustees.”
As a physician’s assistant, mother of a DISD student, and former foster parent, Kirkpatrick is an invaluable advocate for Dallas children. While serving on the planning and allocation committees at Parkland Health and Hospital System, Kirkpatrick witnessed the economic gap that stretches throughout District 2 firsthand. With 89 percent of students in the DISD considered to be living in high poverty, Kirkpatrick is running on a platform that promotes equity, inclusivity, and excellence. She promises to be a champion for Dallas students and their families by fighting against efforts to privatize public education, advocating for community school models, establishing District 2 as a sanctuary district, and expanding access to early childhood education.
“This is an election that can shape a community,” Jackson added. “It’s time to elect progressive leaders like Lori Kirkpatrick, who understand that an investment in our children is an investment in our future.”
